As you know, I have been sharing frequently with you the Tesla-related developments in my articles. 
A new and important news about Tesla came last week. 
Tesla’s outstanding leader, Elon MUSK has announced that he will build the first Tesla manufacturing plant in Berlin, the German capital.
Elon Musk, winner of this year’s Golden Steering Award, given by Bild newspaper since 1976, is again on the agenda for the automotive world with this statement. While unveiling this new investment, Elon MUSK have created a big buzz by choosing this ceremony with over 200 top executives of German automotive giants, including BMW, AUDI and VW. 
By the way, the Golden Steering Award is considered the most prestigious award in the European Automotive Industry. However, due to the Dieselgate scandal prevailing over the past 3 years, no awards ceremony was held last year. Starting from 2019, cars using electric power were also included in the award category by Bild and opened the way for Tesla.

VW, which began investing heavily in EV technology as it is known, began producing its first electric car, the ID3, at its Zwickau plant south of Leipzig. The first battery factory, which VW partnered with Sweden’s Northvolt, is in Salzgitter. However, Berlin has in recent years begun to gain attention for its electric vehicle technologies and applications.  The partnership of Daimler and BMW was established in Berlin. VW and Porche have launched their car-sharing partnership, Weshare, in Berlin as well. As I mentioned in my previous articles, Germany’s first digital road for autonomous vehicles, 17.Juni Boulevard is also in Berlin. Tesla plans to produce its Y crossover car model at its Berlin plant by 2021. The same factory will also manufacture Tesla 3 model car and batteries. With the design and R & D centers, employment will reach to 10,000 people. 
Berlin implies that this new investment has a political choice. The fall of the Berlin Wall has 30th anniversary this year. Berlin, which has a relatively high unemployment rate, looks to attract a significant number of new working population with this investment. This will make the city more gentrific and decent. The opening of the new Brandenburg Airport in 2020, near Tesla’s factory investment in Berlin, will also be a distinct advantage.
As a result, let’s get ready for the Berlin-based fierce competition of electric vehicles starting from 2021.
