Dear Friends,
The Automotive Distributors Association (ODD) and Deloitte announced recently an outstanding survey report conducted jointly.
This survey, which includes automotive consumers ‘ views on advanced vehicle technologies, actually reveals how much we care about the issue of data security and data privacy . This issue is raised from time to time by parties concerned. Half of consumers surveyed have declared their concerns about data management.
Indeed, an IBM-sourced survey quoted by Green Cars Report columist Aaron Cole on September 18, 2019 also makes this concern clear. https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1125075_survey-brand-won-t-matter-for-many-self-driving-car-adopters-in-the-future
According to above survey, car users clearly emphasize how to protect their data from digital threats, rather than what the car brand is.
This survey by IBM conveys the views and expectations of 11,500 consumers and 1,500 automotive executives for the next 10 years.
In 8 countries including USA, China and India, 65% of the participants in this survey reside in cities and 35% reside in rural areas.
According to IBM, 15% of the vehicles to be sold by 2030 will be driverless. However. it is not clear whether their autonomy will be level 4 or level 5..
Of those surveyed, 57% of those living in cities and 46% of those in rural areas care not about the brand and price of driverless cars they will use, but they all care about how brands will ensure data security and data privacy. Consumers do not feel bothered by the sharing of personal data among the cars of same brand. They will even be glad to be involved in such loyalty programs like ‘ frequent flyer ‘practices of airline companies..
The manufacturers side believes that driverless vehicle technology will evolve hands in hands with electric vehicles.
More than half of consumers want to get up-to-date news, weather and traffic information from the vehicle during the cruise.
Yet more than half of consumers desire to use personal social media and entertainment apps while cruising.
A third of consumers will be happy to be in the pioneering group, particularly those using driverless vehicle technologies. In fact, 20% of surveyed consumers believe that new advanced technologies will affect their brand choices.
My dear friends,
It seems that similar research reports will frequently be published until 2030 in a way to affect consumers. But from today it is clear that personal data security and privacy will be the most important reason for choice. Several research reports published since January underline the same issue.
As a result, let’s say in advance that brands that guarantee data security and privacy will gain more in the driverless vehicles market.
